Jef Van den Bossche (1993) is a Belgian documentary photographer with a keen eye for capturing the essence of people and places. Based in Brussels, Jef holds a Master's degree in Photography from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent.
Through his most recent project "Far Nearer," Jef documented the impact of the pandemic on communal spaces. His images capture the silence and emptiness of social gathering places that once were bustling with activity, giving the surreal feeling of a world standing still.
In his other project "On a Soif," Jef explored Belgian café culture and the role of cafés in the daily lives of Belgians. Here he focused on the distinctive atmosphere, characters, and stories that make each café a unique place.
Jef Van den Bossche has also worked as a freelance photographer for various media, including De Standaard, Wilfried Mag, and DaarDaar.be, demonstrating his versatility and ability to capture compelling images across different genres.
