Beach & Golf Resort: water spraying during day time at a golf course under construction in Mojacar. Two of the big water consumers are tourism and the building industry. Already two million foreigners have bought a holiday home along the Spanish coast. It is believed that by 2020 there could be six million pensioners - mainly from Britain and Germany - living there. In 2005, more than 350.000 houses were under construction along the coast and since 2000 Spain build 160 golf courses, especialy in the south. The golf business was good for 2 billion euros in 1997, a number that has tripled since then. But where does all the water come from? This year the water reservoirs are at their lowest level in ten years time. Scientists believe one thirth of Spain could become a desert in 50 years time. The region of Murcia is the most severely touched.
