Jonas was born and raised in Antwerp and left Belgium at the age of 20. He spent several years in the Caribbean, New-Zealand and Greece, taking a camera with him everywhere he went, becoming a self-educated photographer. After travelling through Asia in ?06-?07, he returned to Belgium and started getting a few publication in magazines like Ché, Sabato, Flair, and De Standaard magazine, combining it with a number of very different jobs. In 2012 he decided to become a full-time photographer. Since then he has been a contributor for press agencies such as the Dutch ANP and Belga, as well as working for numerous other clients both in international press as well as private projects. In 2018 he won the Nikon Press Photo award with a picture of Angela Merkel. He enjoys windsurfing and riding motorcycles.
